VH1’s Big Music in 2015 | Ft. Hozier, Tori Kelly, James Bay2 min read
One great thing about New York is that there is always something going on in the city. If you read my October Highlights post you will know that I got tickets to see Jimmy Kimmel Live From Brooklyn twice! I also managed to get my hands on a pair of priority tickets for VH1’s Big Music in 2015: You Oughta Know concert. This event took place at The Armoury Foundation in Washington Heights.
Because we had priority tickets we were lucky enough to be one of the first into the arena. This meant could watch the artists rehearse and we also got to stand second row from the stage for the concert, which was pretty cool.
The show opened with Elle King and James Bay doing a great rendition of “Proud Mary”, and it really got the crowd going.
Other performers included Nate Ruess, Miguel, George Ezra, Rachael Platten, Ella Henderson, X Ambassadors, Tori Kelly and Hozier.
Obviously being Irish, my favourite performer was Hozier. His voice is absolutely incredible!
But I also really loved James Bay. I’ve become such a big fan of his since the show. And Tori Kelly… wow she can really sing! Hozier and Tori Kelly actually teamed up to perform “Blackbird”, which you can see a little bit of below.
Nate Ruess also killed his performance!
The show was hosted by Mel B and featured many guest presenters including Carly Rae Jepsen, Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries) and Taryn Manning (Orange is the New Black).
At one point, Salt-n-Pepa joined Mel B to throw it back a few decades by doing a rendition of “Wannabe” and “Push it”!
Hozier won the award on the night which was for VH1’s Artist of the Year, and was totally deserved in my opinion!
It was such a fun night and I am so glad I got to be apart of it.
