24 Hours in San Diego2 min read

Mission Bay San Diego

Hello 🙂

We packed up our car and hit the road towards San Diego. It was sad leaving L.A. because we knew that we were pretty much halfway through our holiday. It was flying by way too quickly!

We arrived in San Diego around midday and dropped Sarah and my aunt off to go swimming with dolphins! The photos she got were amazing! You can see some of them here and here.
.

Meanwhile, my aunt, my mom and I checked into The Dana Hotel and got some lunch. Our room was very spacious and had a huge balcony overlooking Mission Bay!

This was our fab view!

It was a lovely day so we decided to lay out by the pool while we waiting for the others to come back. It was like a private pool it was so quiet! It was so peaceful and relaxing (really wishing I was there right now!). Look at that blue water!!

.

When the others arrived back, we explored Old Town San Diego, which is such a cute little area – and really does look like some place from back in the day! There are a lot of little gift shops, restaurants and cafés in the area.

.
It was really hard to get good pictures because the sun was setting so these were the best I got!

.
I loved these really quirky features:

.

We decided to eat downtown because why go to San Diego and not go downtown!
.
On our way back to the car, we stopped in a gift shop to get some souvenirs (I collect pins from everywhere I go – maybe I will do another blog post about that!).
.
This is the only half decent picture I got of Downtown San Diego!

.
Once we got back to the car there were cockroaches on the ground all around it so anyone passing by probably had a great laugh watching us trying to avoid them and get into the car without any of them coming in with us. Let me tell you if I happened to see one inside the car, I would probably not be here today to tell the story!!
.
Also I found it extremely random that the baseball field is literally in the middle of a street in the city! You literally look down the street and there is a huge stadium in front of you!! That’s not something I’m used to seeing!
.
I would like to go back and see more of San Diego. We only spent one day there, and time slipped by so quickly! It seemed like a very nice place.
.
I’ve also heard great things about La Jolla so that will be kept for my next visit!

.
Have you been to San Diego before? What are your favourite things to do there?
.
Thanks for reading,
.

San Diego is our second city away from home. Incidentally, we just booked a November trip to see the Charges play against Miami. I love how convenient the trolley is. We always stay downtown and take advantage of all the places surrounding the hotel. We've never explored Old Town, though. We might have to do that this year.

I hope I will get to see more of downtown someday. Enjoy the game in November!

I live in Coronado, which is in San Diego. It’s a very serene coastal city. Hope you can add this one to your next visit, too!
